Lucky Girl!

Hello all!  Hope you had a wonderful weekend!  I am just popping in really quick to tell you who won the giveaway from Junghwa!  It is The Chickens' Auntie!  yay for you!  Please email me at michelle at vintagejunky dot com with your address so you can get your sweet necklace!

Okay, I have been shaking things up around the house.  And, let's face it... making a huge mess in the process.  So, I will be back soon to show you my latest treasure and some little changes I have made around here to freshen the place up!

bye for now~

We have a winner!!!!

Hello all!  Let me start off by saying that you guys really wanted this chalkboard... like really!  Thanks so much for entering and if I could convince the Mr. to make one for all of you I would... but I need him to do other things... like patch the hole in the ceiling where the weird-o leak came through the light fixture... very strange.  Anyhow, the winner is Lauren Hitch!!!  Lauren, email me at michelle at vintagejunky.com and I will get the process started! Thanks so much for all the love and support.  You guys really are the greatest.

Okay, now I have to manage to put the boy down for a nap, totally rearrange the house quietly and before the Mr. gets back... I go this wild hair (whilst in the shower, washing my hair) to move some stuff around and give our space a little switcheroo.  If it stays, I will share photos next week.

Wish me luck! *wink*

bye for now!!

Meet Amelia!

Hello all!  Hope you have had a wonderful weekend!  The Mr. has been busy delivering loads to all the antique booths today.  Including the lovely piece that was named in the Name Game Giveaway!  I had so much fun with this giveaway, so I am sure I will do it again.  I chose my favorites from the great names you provided and then let Mr. Hughes and my sweet sister pick their favorite... and they chose the same name... and it was just perfect.  So, meet Amelia!

Amelia was named by Amy, so Amy, if you are reading, contact me with your address and choice of pillow or Mimi tote.  I gave this piece a light grey paint and she needed just a little something extra... so Mr. Hughes suggested chicken wire.  And it just fit.

Something a little rustic to tone down her sweetness... check out those legs and casters.  I adore casters!

I love the little shield shaped raised details too.  She is at Winchester Antiques in case any of you locals are in in love with her too!  Thanks to you all for commenting.  Well, I will be back soon with some things that are now checked off my To Do list!  Yay!

bye for now!

And the winner is......

Email me your address at michelle at vintagejunky dot com and I will put you in touch with Camille and get you your fabulous garden markers.

In other news, I did a sort of crafty project that I will show you later this week... it is definitely Easter-y.
And I cleaned my studio. It may never look this nice again.
That is all. I will be back soon. Promise.

bye for now!

Furniture Feature 2 and a winner!

*hello* how are you?
I have been busy working on a selfish project... a mine all mine project.
And, she is about finished.  I just have to bribe/nag the Mr. about helping me with a thing or two before I can introduce her.  That is why I am writing about it today.  Because NEXT Monday (see that, a deadline... he laughs at blog deadlines) I am going to share her with the WORLD!  Or, maybe just my readers.... but we ARE the world (hee, hee!)
So, why don't you email me some of your Favorite Furniture Finds (must be vintage... does not have to be a before/after, rules, rules)
and tell me a bit about them... I will post it here along with Kate, my classy secretary.

email is michelle {at} vintagejunky {dot} com

Oh and I do believe I have a winner for the Pleated Poppy Giveaway!

So, Ana, email me and I will get you in touch to get your goods.

I am busybusybusy working on purging and shaking things up a bit around the house and getting some booth stuff ready.

How Can I Justify? + Winner of Terrarium

hello ladies!  Hope your week is great!  Mine has been busy trying to get some stuff ready for the booth.  I went to buy my paint for the chest that I am putting in there.  I knew I wanted to go with grey so I started looking for a grey that wasn't too blue or green or brown.  Then I saw grey owl and I figured it was kismet :)

So, this will be the main color to work around.  Mr. Hughes is cutting my logo out of wood for a sign.  I still have a lot to get ready before I open.  I am going to the flea market this weekend (fingers crossed on the weather) to find a few more pieces.  But, all of this and company coming doesn't stop my mind from wandering.  I have been stalking this dress from Anthro for a while... just waiting for it to go on sale as sizes are slowly disappearing...
So cute!  Must have it.  But, that is not what I am trying to justify.  It is this that I am craving....

Remember this imaginary room?  Or what about this one?  Well, this pretty paper would be so, so perfect.  Then, I started scheming...  I really want it to be real.  I WANT this paper.  I was thinking it would be perfect framed (it is a mural) or even better... how about on a ceiling?  I showed it to Mr. Hughes... and he saw the price.  Let's just say my booth better do very well for me to justify buying this... did I mention that it covers a 9x 6 area for the bargin price of $298?  Yep, don't see that happening!  I guess I could sweetly ask Mr. Hughes to paint it for me (he is very talented) a la Sistine Chapel Style, but I don't foresee that happening either.  So, I will totally keep lusting over it for now

Also, I wanted to let you know the winner of this (baby hughes has managed to keep his chubby little hands off it)
The winner is Deborah at The Fairfield House!!  If you haven't been over there, you should go check her out.  Her home has such a sweet story behind it!  Well, hope you all have a great rest of the week!  Bye for now!

Some Very Exciting News

I have some wonderful news.  It is something that has been in the works for awhile, but I didn't want to say anything until we were positive it was going to happen.  Well, it happened.  I almost feel a little guilty telling you.  You see, this is a Mr. Hughes thing.  Let me give you a little background on my wonderful hubby.

To say that Mr. Hughes is creative is an understatement.  He is, after all, a graphic/ web designer (he does blogs too!)  But, he also paints and builds things and basically helps me make my visions a reality.  He is a wonderful photographer and a great writer too.  Ladies, I lucked out, truly I did.  Marrying him is still hands down, the best decision I ever made.  He is who I go antiquing with... he actually takes longer than I do digging and what not.  When I go by myself, it just feels off.  He likes to upcycle things... take unwanted items and make them useful and pretty again.  Well, a few months ago someone saw his terrarium and then contacted him. This someone was from Country Living.  So they decided to put his design in the magazine.  Now, I haven't received our copy yet, but I searched for it on the website and here it is:

He sent them one put together and then one for them to assemble while taking photos.  I, of course, have the original in our dining room.  I am so proud and a little jealous *wink*

If you would like to check out what my other half is up to, you can follow him at the upcycler.  Leave him a note to say that his fabulous wife sent you and tell him to buy me that house... he will know what you are talking about.

Oh, and I believe I need to announce the winner of my Bloggiversary Giveaway... it is Alicia @ Rae Rae Sisters.  So, Miss Alicia, send me an email at michelle@vintagejunky.com and I will send the pillow and pitcher to their new home... take good care of that pitcher!

If you want to check out two other wonderful giveaways, visit Anne at Fiona and Twig and Kasey at Lola B's.  Let's see if my giveaway luck extends to these two!

You guys....

.....are incredible!  You have given me so many suggestions on places we should visit to find where we belong.

Seriously, you really came through and I so appreciate it.  I don't know if it is the weather (very cold and snowy here) or thinking about The Plan, but I have been feeling a little ehhhh.  Well, I know what part of it is, I have been obsessing over this house (and glass towel bars... more on that later.)  Mr. Hughes and I started looking on zillow.com.... just looking.  Well, he found one he liked in Tennessee.... then I found one I loved...

maybe it is lust.  I am a dreamer for the most part.  Mr. Hughes, he's practical.  I will spend unmentionable amounts of money on purses, but all my socks will have holes in them, that sort of thing.  Well, I just couldn't get this house out of my mind, still can't actually.  I told him that he needed to find something wrong (besides the fact that we are totally not ready or able to move, because that wouldn't work.)  Well, he didn't like the crime rate of where it was.  Burst my bubble, but not enough.  So you want to see what it looks like... go take a look, and come right back....

..... so what did you think?  Of those moldings?  of that brick wall in the  kitchen?  Of the fact that the electrical and plumbing and HVAC are new?  And, totally within our price range.   So, I have resigned myself to convincing myself that it used to be a brothel and is haunted by angry ghosts of Ladies of the Night.  And raccoons are inhabiting it (saw some VERY disturbing things about raccoons on Dirty Jobs this week.)  And, also because I read a post from a much wiser woman than me: Mrs. Flower Patch Farm Girl.

What can I say?  The post spoke to me.  I still have that house redecorated in my head, but I am loving the one that I am with.  I truly do love our home and all the work that we have put into it.  So I am going to love the daylights out of this house.  The Plan is still on, but I am not finished with this lady yet.  I have a whole list of things that I still want to do here and we plan on being here for a while longer.  By all means, keep sending new towns my way.

oh by the way, the winners were drawn by this rockstar...

....kind of a crazy eye huh?  And here they are: Susan of Found Around  and Kiera of ChambersMade.

They won the pillows... ladies, please email me your addresses and I will ship them right out!

A winner!

I have a winner!  After tabulating the results in a highly controlled and secret manner (Mr. Hughes drew the name out of an old salsa jar) I am pleased to announce that Jes won the pedestal milk glass bowl!  So, Jen please email me your address and your little treasure will be on its way!  Thank you to everyone who entered and a double thanks to everyone who came to party....one of you gave me inspiration for my next party, but more on that later!

I wanted to tell you about this fun party that I am joining tomorrow.

It is a Vintage Black Friday Party at Gypsy Brocante.  I love all the white parties that everyone posts such lovely items on, but I love black too.  I mean, I have plenty of vintage black furniture.  So, come here tomorrow and I will share a touch of black and visit the other partygoers on Gypsy Brocante's blogroll.  Now, I have to go clean this pigsty so I can justify sitting in front of the tv to watch The Office tonight.

I have a Winner!

I seriously felt guilty for only being able to choose 1 name. I even tried to find another egg crate this weekend so I could pick 2 names! Thanks for entering everyone, and thanks for reading my blog. You just don't know how excited I get when I get a comment or a new follower. Okay, okay, you want the winner... it is Mandi from MyShoestringLife! So, Mandi, please send me an email and give me your address and I will get it off to you. Everyone else... I will be doing another giveaway soon. But, please don't forget to come back here tomorrow (actually late this evening) for the Letters and Numbers party. I admit I am a little nervous about my 1st party (sheepish look.) I hope I have people show up!
