Friday Etsy Favorites *Cheeky*

Hello all!  I am crazy sick of the cold.  Seriously. There is still snow on the ground, but not enough to play in.  The fun is over.  Michigan, take it back!

The sun is out now, so I have high hopes for today.

That's all folks!  We have NO concrete plans this weekend... I do have to finish up a couple of dressers for the booths, but other than that...  there is much room for some shenanigans!

Snow Day!

Hi there!  Are you guys snowed in?  We are... 5 whole inches.  It doesn't take much to snow us in Tennessee!  

Hope your weekend was wonderful.   We went out on Saturday and foofed and fluffed the booths.

And, then we went treasure hunting.

Ladies (and the few guys that read,) it has been too long.  I missed it so.  We drove out to one little trove that was close til March! But we did happen upon a new place that we had never been to before.

And, there is where we met....

Have I ever mentioned my utter weakness for ironstone?  It is bad.  Mr. Hughes actually picked out this sweet thing.  You see, I have been lusting over an ironstone punch bowl for awhile... but why haven't you bought it? you ask.  Well, let's just say that it was around $375.  And it still sits, in the same spot, for over 2 years.  And, don't get me wrong... it may very well be worth it... just not to me.

So, naturally, when the Mr. told me he thought I needed this bowl... I wasn't going to argue...see, it is even up on a short little pedestal.

We also came home with a very cool vintage school map of Asia and the USSR, I will show you that once Mr. Hughes cleans his desk off.

So, when I woke up this morning and saw all this white, I knew just what to do.  First, I froze my hiney off painting a couple of pieces for the booth... show you later... then after cleaning the house up just a bit, I bundled my little hyena up and took him out to throw snow at each other.  It was fun... what else can I say....kids make everything better.

We built a mini snowman with a baby carrot nose and vintage buttons.  People, I know... he isn't the best... the snow packs really easy but doesn't sculpt.... people from up North, your tips are welcome.

baby hughes loved it!  This is his first snow that he was able to play in.... he took right to throwing it

Now, we are warm and dry.  One of us is napping.  And I am about to grab another cup of green tea and  see what I can shake up around here! (Have you seen the large stack of suitcases in the latest Country Living... I so want to copy that....)

Vintage Junky at Winchester Antiques

We kicked off 2011 by opening the new Vintage Junky Booth at Winchester Antiques in Franklin.  On New Year's Eve I went to paint the booth from lime green to my *signature blue*

Then the next morning after a long night of prep work Mr. Hughes and I hauled a trailer full of stuff to Franklin.  And spent most of the afternoon foofing.

So here it is:

Here are the two chests... the Hannah and the Ashley.

I love the Ashley... I painted her a pretty grey (I know, I know I paint everything a pretty grey, but it is different from the other pretty greys!)

I love the tilting mirror.  Oh, and I named her after my beautiful sister... the prettiest girl I have met!

A sweet chair with one of my favorite ruffled grey grain sack pillows (more will be in my etsy shop soon.)

These lamps are incredible... one of my favorite finds.  Mr. Hughes rewired them and they look great with the bare bulbs (if I do say so myself!)

Some notebooks covered in vintage calling cards... in a painted violin case filled with moss

These will also be listed in my etsy shop soon.... shield shaped coat hooks made from organ pulls.

This piece was built in the booth... worked out great!   I didn't have to have Mr. Hughes make any storage pieces for the booth.

This was the other piece that came with the booth.  It had some green fabric in the back of it that just didn't go, so I took it down and lined the back of the shelf with a drop cloth.

And, one of my favorite parts of the booth... it has this extra little tiny room attached... it reminds me of my little booth at the Roost... I like the impact you can put in a tiny spot.

This wall is all Mr. Hughes.... he painted the herb plaques and found the windows and painted them too.

He is wonderful... what can I say?

Then he also donated these botanicals from his very, very large paper stash.

He has a bit of a problem. 

But they were perfect  clothesline style across some shutters (that were already there... I just painted them a light grey)

We hope to get a a sign ready soon.... Mr. Hughes has a really awesome made... but he thinks it may be to heavy

Goodbye 2010, *hello* 2011

I would like to say hello to 2011 in a kind of flirty,* I think you are cute* sort of way.  You know, to become tight right off the bat.  I want 2011 to be a fun great year.  And, instead of making resolutions, I will make goals and celebrate milestones.

(I know, it is Friday and I am not posting my Friday Etsy Faves, but I have been busy... building trains and practicing perfect fake in your face sneezes, and getting my new booth ready.... which I have a whole list of things to be doing right now, but I would rather chat a little before this great 2010 leaves us.) 

Here is a sneak peek of the stuff that will be at Winchester:

Goals like being a more patient mom.... who has a potty trained kiddo before he turns 3

Why, now why would I put that as a goal.... well, my sweets, I REALLY want to go to Disney this fall.

Mr. Hughes got cheated out of Disney and he still hasn't been (and for some reason, that really, really makes me sad.) So, I would rather take a potty trained 3 year old

This year the Mr. and I will mark 5 years of being married.  I think I want a diamond.  No seriously, I just want to celebrate that for what it is

I will have a 3 year old.... yikes.... where has the time gone?  And, I would be lying to you if I told you I wasn't planning the party.... but I was NOT the person who has already ordered party favors... well, maybe after Mr. Hughes ordered the first favor... I found a great deal on a second......and, well, you know.

I want to eat better and exercise more.

I want to really garden this year.... how am I ever going to end up an old lady in floppy garden hats if I don't learn more.  I have been studying this Burpee catalog to see what I might like to try out this year.

I want to visit more train museums.  Yes, my traditional girl upbringing failed me... I am finding that trains were lacking in my household.... I think I love trains almost as much as the hyena.

I want to build healthy friendships and maybe put those on hold that are draining me.

I have so many goals that I just can't put to paper right now.  It all boils down to being happier and making those around me happier too.  Can you ask for more?
