Reminder Wish List Party

I just wanted to remind everyone about the Wish List Party starting this evening, say 7ish.  I think I will leave it up until late Thursday evening in case you need extra time to think of all the things you want!  Can't wait to see all your longings!

Sunshine (finally) and some Inspiration

We have had a nearly constant cloud cover in Tennessee for what feels like weeks now.  Today is sunny... very cool, but sunny.  So, we spent the day taking some photos and playing with Baby Hughes outside.  We went to pick up the table for the Studio (nice ring, eh?)  You should see this beauty... Miss Linda at Carter's Creek almost didn't let me have it!  I will post photos soon.  And, I started getting inspired about the space... here is where I am at so far:

I bought this lonely little lamp base ages ago for just a couple of dollars.  It has been on a bookshelf forever.  Then, when I realized that my favorite Amy Butler fabric is also a discontinued pattern, I ordered some more on etsy.  I don't have much here... enough to do a little lampshade.  But, it is enough to give it a punch.  Plus, my mother and the Margarita Sisters are making me a throw with it and I think there will be a little more left over from what they have.

Here are the colors of paint I am considering.  I will most likely do the grayish white on the walls... I am not scared of color by any means, but I need a light color because that room is so small and we will be taking photos  for my etsy shop in there.  And, I am not sure exactly what I will use the other colors on... furniture, frames, etc.  I am pretty certain that I can sweet talk Mr. Hughes into getting a chandelier for the room at the flea market next weekend...and then it will need a vintage ceiling medalion... and that blue would be perfect for that!

And, since it is sunny, I took some photos of some of the outside fall flowers, just for fun!

This was a $5 wood box that we bought for Baby Hughes' pirate party... it supposed to be a treasure map box.  I don't think it made it to that point though.  But, it is perfect for pansies!

And, here is the centerpiece spread on our giant table on the deck.  Unfortunately, it went from blazing hot with mosquitoes to rainy for 2 months to cold!  So, we haven't been able to enjoy our deck much this fall.  But, don't you just love hedge apples?  I would love to bring some inside, but after reading Kasey's post about the acorn worms, I have a phobia!!

Oh, and if you are wondering which lap top case I chose, here it is:

It was one of Mr. Hughes' favorites out of the spread.  I can't wait to get it!  My Mac needs a cozy!

Alright, I'll leave you with just one more thing.... get your wish lists ready for this Wednesday.  I will put up the McKlinky up Tuesday evening... I can't wait to see what you ladies are lusting over!

Vote!

Okay, I am skipping Vintage Black Friday because it has rained all week... seriously, we had a window of sunshine for about 45 minutes the other day... other than that, grey, grey, grey!!  Very bad for taking photos inside our house!  So, I have been in a grey mood... and searching for more grey stuff on etsy...well, it isn't all grey.  I need (want *wink*) a laptop case.  Mind you, I rarely take my laptop places, but on the off chance that Mr. Hughes decides to whisk me away to an exotic local, I would like to blog on the beach.  So, I am going to show you my fave of faves.  And I would like to know which one you like best.  Looks only please, let's keep this superficial... if I wanted practical, I would go to the MacStore.  So here they are:

A lace trim beauty (I'll go ahead and say that this one has my heart)

So, what do you think?  Which one is Vintage Junky-ish?

UPDATE!  Well, thanks to Susan at Peanut Petunia, she made this a little more difficult... I have 2 more to add!

Love the doily!!  Adore it!

This has a doily plus a typewriter! Oh my, the choices, the choices!!

Celebrating the Holidays

Today I am joining Sweet Marie's Holiday Traditions Party at Emma Calls Me Mama. I am going to go ahead and apologize.  I don't have many digital holiday photos... I got a new camera and computer after Christmas, so they are not on here.  But, I will share with you the traditions my little family has started.  We really only decorate for Christmas.  We get a real tree and put it up by December 7th (my birthday.)  And, I decorate with alot of paper snowflakes that we cut out.  Alot!  I wish I had a photo of them to share, but I put them in every window in the house and pull the blinds up so we can enjoy them.  Last year, I even decorated the tree with them.  I just love simple decorations.

Every year, my sister and I got new Christmas pj's.  And, I carried on the tradition with Baby Hughes...doesn't he look enthralled with Christmas?

Last year, I bought a copy of The Night Before Christmas for Mr. Hughes to start reading every Christmas Eve.  I dedicated it to him and I have visions of him reading it to Baby Hughes every year before we tuck him in to wait for Santa.

And, one last thing that makes a holiday special for me (you see, I don't really like traditional Thanksgiving food.  I know, I am weird) is Cherry Slop.  You are probably wondering why anyone would want to eat something called "slop" and I will tell you... it is delicious!  It is actually called Cherry Fluff, but I called it slop when I was little and the name stuck.  So, here is the recipe:

*one can of cherry pie filling
*one can of pineapple tidbits or crushed pineapple, drained
*one 14oz can of sweetened condensed milk
*one tub of Cool Whip (thawed a little)

Okay, you just put it in a big bowl, mix it up, and refrigerate until you are ready to serve it.
Now, the proper way to serve it is in a greenish yellow Pyrex bowl with daisies on the side(ie the Cherry Slop Bowl) that my Aunt Dee owns... it just tastes better that way.

Well, that is all I have for now.  We are really just starting our own holiday traditions as a family.  So, I am going to see what the rest of the partygoers have and maybe get some more ideas!  Thanks so much Marie for putting this party together!

Can you believe it?

I won!  I mean, I really won!  I got a message from Sarah from my so called junky life telling me that I won her $50 gift certificate giveaway.  I had to go through her shop to pick out my lovelies from a multitude of lovelies.  It wasn't easy, but I managed.  I got what caught my eye in the first place:

Beautiful!  and I got to pick one more item

Now you don't all have to be jealous of me... you can go visit her and find your very own one of a kind treasure!

Thanks so much Sarah!  Can't wait to get them!
