Etsy Update!

Hello, hello, hello!!  Long time no see, huh?  I could not turn on my computer.  The cable and the battery were so, so dead.  Poor MacBook!  I bought a new cable and though I have to stay plugged in, it seems to be working fine so far.

I just wanted to pop in and say hello and let you know that I just listed some cool numbers and some great vintage Valentines in my ol' etsy shop.

My boy is out of school today, so this will be quite short.  Be back soon to share more.... I knitted my first pair of mittens over the weekend!!  SO exciting!

Friday Favorites

I thought I would do a little Friday Favorites of some recent handmade purchases that I adore.  We went to a couple of pop up shops in New York and went to the Porter Flea in Nashville last weekend.  Plus, I snuck in a new tote purchase before we left for our trip... wink!

Here is the tote that I decided that I needed before we left.  I wanted something light that I could put snacks for the boy and little souvenirs in and not have a bunch of bags while we were walking.  It is perfect!
 found~ bookhouathome

We were walking in Central Park when I saw this artist with a booth set up.  I loved her work!  This was my favorite though.  I am planning on getting another of her block prints soon.
found~ michellehan

After a trip or two to a flea market and little gifts that we bought, I needed an additional carry on tote.  We found a group of pop up shops in Grand Central Terminal on one of our last days there.  I bought this roomy and cute tote and a mug.

At the same pop up shops, we found this company.  This isn't the shirt my little man chose.... his is orange, long sleeved with a subway car....   I am sure this one would have been his second choice though.

Last weekend, we finally made it to Porter Flea.  Every other time, we ran into a reason we couldn't go.   I am so glad we made it this time.  I must have a thing for block and lino prints.  I bought a print (not the above one... mine has a globe on it) from this seller.  It was so hard to choose.  I also purchased a small one of three owls.  I think I need this tree house too though.

This shirt was a purchase by the Mr.  This shop had great prints as well.  This may be one of those shirts I steal from time to time...

I bought a sweet little boy silhouette ornament from this seller, but she had so many cute pieces like this camper.  I also love her diamond stud earrings!
found~ neogranny

When I saw that this seller was going to be there, I was super excited about going and snagging some beautiful hand dyed yarn in this spanish moss color.  It seems that everyone else beat me to it.... she was almost completely sold out when I got to her booth.  I can't wait for her to restock it!

I have almost reached a stopping point on the snowflakes this year, so hopefully I can share some Christmas photos next week.  Have a great weekend!

Friday Etsy Favorites *knit and purl*

Hello all!  I have so many favorites in my etsy faves that I decided to do a little round up on my current obsession.  Knitting.  I went a took a casual lesson a couple of weeks ago and I LOVE it!  Granted, I am not really that great and pretty slow.  Plus, I had a clammy panic the other night when I realized that I twisted a whole row of stitches in my first scarf... took an emergency trip to The Joy of Knitting and got it sorted out.  Anyhow, here are some things I am loving on etsy right now.

I personally like to use really pretty and nice tools.  It makes the "work" even more enjoyable.  These needles are so pretty!
found~ brushcreekwoolworks

I purchased this yarn in a different color before I knew how to knit.  I just had to have it.  Now, I think I have to have it in every color.
found~ fancytiger

Once I get past stockinette and garter, maybe I will attempt something like this pattern... I love chunky oatmealy scarfs and sweaters

Not only does the above shoppe create fabulous patterns like that pretty scarf, but they also dye beautiful yarn like this one that has all the colors I love
found~ phydeauxdesigns

I remember seeing this bowl awhile ago and I didn't entirely understand the purpose.  Now that I have had a ball of yarn roll away, I totally get it.  And totally want one

These vintage yellow needles are incredible!  Contrary to what I put out here on my blog, yellow is not my favorite color (that spot is permanently reserved for green) but I can still have crushes, right?
found~ moxiethrift

And speaking of yellow crush, this mustard sweater is perfect! I would love to knit something like this for my boy, but I am not delusional... I am taking baby steps with the scarves.

Well, it is a chilly day and it is really thinking about snowing, so I think we will cuddle up today and work on stuff at home.  Happy Friday everyone!!

bye for now~

Friday Etsy Favorites

Happy Friday!  I just checked my phone and it is 18 degrees.  Yes, 18!!  There is a light dusting of snow on the ground and both the big man and the little man are still cozy in bed.  I am trying to figure out what I am going to use as "glubbs" when the little man wakes up (any time now) and demands to go play in this.  Oh, and he only wears converse.  So, nothing to keep his hands or his feet warm and dry.  We just aren't prepared for this.  I know by the time I run to Target and get him some boots and mittens it will be 70 here.  It would be a bit easier if he wasn't so picky about shoes and would let me get him some mittens in the first place.  Anyhow, I went through my etsy favorites to try to find a theme and I can't find one, so here are a few things I am crushing on this week:

I have been totally smitten with her globes for awhile now.  They are amazing!

this just needs to be mine

Remember when Mr Incredible says this to his family?  Also, the short at the end with the babysitter is hilarious and so much like my little man
found~ gusandlula

I have a printed pillow from this shoppe and it is so lovely.  This one has me wishing for new shams too
found~ giardino

One thing I am always looking for is nice, preserved butterflies.  These are pretty and you can frame them how you like.
found~ becaruns

This house is so very Downton.  I haven't been able to watch this season (we don't get any channels anymore and I haven't had time to sit and watch my favorite shows online.) Someone in this house has. And try as I may to not see any spoilers on Facebook, that someone blurted what happened last week. Ugh.  Anyhow, isn't this hat lovely?
found~ behidadolic

I love these pretty twiggy stacking rings

I think this is pretty good advice
found~ littlebostonprintshoppe

baby hughes ( aka little man, monster, hyena, whathaveyou) is cuddled up next to me now and hasn't made a mention of the s word, so we have a Thomas movie in and may just declare today pajama day.  I would like to find some "glubbs" though.  We don't see the white stuff very often. Have a great weekend everyone!

bye for now~

I have mentioned it before, but these are in no way paid/sponsored posts.  I truly have each item in my favorites.  If you do pin these images, please visit the actual etsy shoppe in the link provided and pin from there.  Thanks!

Thimbled Patterns

Hello all! Hope you had a lovely weekend!  This is the first weekend in awhile that I did practically nothing.  Like, didn't leave the house for a couple of days (I was feeling a bit ehhh...) But, still, it was wonderful!  I worked on some embroidery patterns and some orders and that was it.  I am still working on getting my blog for thimbled up and running, but in the meantime, I figured I would just post that sort of thing here.  The Mr worked on getting some of my designs into pdf patterns and they are now available here.  I have a few more that I am finishing up over the next few days and then I will post them as well.

Thanks for all your sweet comments about my little embroideries!  My head is overflowing with ideas and my fingers can't stitch them fast enough!  Be back soon with some shoppe photos and possibly some home photos.... I have a new studio space after all!

bye for now~

Friday Etsy Favorites *wild card*

Happy Friday!  I am rejoicing today because the sun is shining here for the first time in what seems like forever... at the very least a week!  We had a very fun week this week!  My 4 year old took his *girlfriend* out for pizza and ice cream.  When does this stop being cute?  Maybe if he suggests it at 13?  Anyhow, I looked through my favorites to see if I could come up with some kind of theme for this week and I couldn't, so here are some random things I am loving this week.

I am really not a heart person.  not at all.  But this necklace totally changed my mind!

This print is so pretty!

I have ordered a few things from this shoppe and I loved this shirt right when I saw it... then she posted a special order version on Facebook and I loved it more (and it is on its way!)

I love teeny tiny things.  And I simply adore this little tiny painting.  I must have!

Okay, have a great weekend... I am going to try to figure out a way to soak up as much sun as possible while staying as warm as possible!

Introducing thimbled!

Happy Friday!  I have had a little secret project that if you follow me on Instagram you may have guessed... I decided to open a little etsy shoppe just for my embroidery.  The Mr and I have worked up some original designs and I will offer actual embroideries and patterns as well (should have them up this weekend.) I thought I would also add some fun vintage sewing items as well.  So, check out thimbled:

I have several other designs in the works and wandering around in my mind.  I also will have a blog up very soon.  I thought I would keep it separate from this one for those of you who are only interested in vintage and shoppe talk.  Okay, that's all!  Have a fantastic weekend!

bye for now~

Friday Etsy Favorites~ Knit and Crochet

Well hello there!   It has been awhile since I did one of these posts, but I figured since I had a little time today now that I change my shoppe's schedule to the 2nd and 4th weekends every month, I would write one of these little posts.  I have been playing around with either learning knitting or crocheting for the past few months (knitting won... have needles, yarn, just need to sit down and practice!) It is a skill that I admire and I am always drawn to cozy items like that.  So, here are a few from my etsy favorites:

Isn't this trio of crocheted wreaths such a pretty way to decorate your wall?

This simple round pillow has such a great texture

This pillow has my heart!
found~ colettebream

Stocking....

Hello all!  I have been super, duper scrum dididly busy getting ready for bella rustica at the end of this month.  So, that is why I have been... erm... neglecting my blog and etsy shoppe.

I found a bit of time to snap some quick photos to stock my etsy shoppe.

Lots of vintage cameras and some other fun items.  Plus, I will post more later this week.

And, speaking of stocking,  I have already had some requests for some silhouette stockings, so they are in my etsy shoppe in case you are in that Christmas frame of mind already.  Thanks for all your super sweet comments and emails about the Romantic Homes article.  I will be back soon with some sneaky peekies of some of the goodies that will be going with us to Bella Rustica.

bye for now~
