Recent All- Mine Finds and a Sneak Peak

We went to the Flea Market last weekend and then took a little road trip back to Bell Buckle this weekend.  So, I thought I would show you my All- Mine Finds.  I found a little chair for baby hughes so I can put a #3 on it and put it on our front porch with the mommy and the daddy chair... it is going to get a coat of black paint first though.  That quilt you see looks like it has H's all over it. It is most definitely an antique and was $15.  It is in poor shape... it got a nice long bath today and it is stained and torn... but it will make a bright fun beach/ picnic blanket.  I thought I might be able to use it in the babaroo's room, but it is too far gone.  And, do you see that big canvas bin?  Well, it is something that I have wanted for awhile now.  I saw a stack of 3 on metal stands for $30 a piece...not so bad unless you spent all your flea market money before you got halfway through the flea market.  Oh I pouted over it... then I went to the end of that row and saw this one, unpriced.  I got it for $5!!  So glad I waited.

I have picked up a few of these crown jars and this really cool Atlas one that reminds me of sea glass.  They will be perfect to use as vases for my hydrangeas. So, that is all that I found lately.
We have been working on projects for the booth.  But, we have been having a good time doing it... I guess it is true what *they* say... If you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life... (Mr. Hughes doesn't like this quote because it is overused... He says for me to take my optimism down to the bank and see if they will cash it...) Pooey on him!!  Well, anyhow, I thought I would show you a small sneak peak of the booth stuff

An awesome violin case painted white that I am going to use for a display

and this is a whole mess of stuff that we have been working on.  Well, the rain as stopped, so I need to go see if it ruined all the stuff that I have been painting... bye for now!

Flea Market Lovelies!

We went to the Flea Market on Saturday at the Fairgrounds.  The October one is "the big one" plus the mayor of Nashville recently announced that after next June, they will no longer be having the flea market.  Needless to say, I think the entire state of Tennessee was there on Saturday.  We waited in traffic for probably 45 minutes to even get in the gate.  Then when we got in people were pushing and tripping and it was a mess!  So, we didn't stay long, but here is what I found that I am keeping!

I found this lovely scale and probably the most unloved piece of ironstone ever!  Both handles broken and very, very stained.  And, I found some vintage black and white striped ribbon.

The black scale is actually replacing this cream one that I found at a past flea market.  Mr. Hughes and I decided we like the black one better and I don't need multiples of everything.  So, I will be listing this one in my etsy shop.  I am keeping the black oval frame and the little ironstone creamer... I just can't let it go.

Flea Market Finds

I just realized that I haven't shown you my lovelies from the last flea market.  I think I have pulled together all the items that I am keeping.  I listed some of the other goodies in my etsy store.  I actually went twice!!  On Friday, it was raining, so many of the vendors had their treasures under wraps.  I felt so cheated, so the wonderful Mr. Hughes suggested we go back Sunday after Church.  So this is my loot!  I got a couple of vintage frames and a great old medicine cabinet that just might have to have a little makeover.  And here is a closeup of one of those items that has been seeking me:

Ahhhh ironstone!   Look at the patina!  And it has a few cracks here and there!  And, it is large!! I found this lovely in a booth full of mishmash on Friday.  The gentleman that ran the booth informed me that he was a picker for a very expensive antique store in Nashville.  And that he picked it especially for her.  Well, I told him that she was out of luck because I was taking that pitcher home!!  For $15!  I know if I would have let her buy it, I would be lusting after it for the bargain price of $115!

And, it wouldn't be a productive trip without a few letters...

Pretty neat, huh?  I am not sure what I am going to do with them yet but they sure are fabulous.  And, I made away with some numbers too....

This is actually a deck of cards from some old card game. There are numbers 1-15.  I am keeping Baby Hughes' birthday and will find something to do with it.   I will list sets of these in my shop soon.

Well, that is all of my flea market goodies for this month.  Oh... look at what I got in the mail today!

Mr. Hughes was sweet enough to design me a business card!  I feel so official.  I want to thank all of you for your sweet, encouraging comments about the opening of my etsy shop.  It really means alot to me!

So, I hope to show some more of the fall decorating... it has been raining since Sunday... and I am itching to get some more pumpkins

Flea Market Weekend

Can you imagine having all these ceramic fittings in your bathroom? This was one of my favorite tables at the flea market this weekend. We had wonderful weather. We are normally fair weather flea market goers, which means August is out...too hot! We found alot of treasures. Here is a shot of a vendor that had some lovely chandeliers.
Mr. Hughes helped me to put together this little video of some of the incredible (look for the large brown pleated ottoman...would look great in white linen) and interesting things(the viking helmet that I wouldn't let Mr. Hughes get to mow the lawn in.) Please excuse the roughness...Mr. Hughes had some trouble with the editing software.

After we left the flea market, I needed to go to the bathroom BAD!! I don't do the rest rooms there! So, I told Mr. Hughes to stop at the nearest, cleanest bathroom that just happened to be at Gas Lamp Antique Mall. I'm pretty wiley, huh? Well, what do you know? We found some treasures there too. Here are a few of the things that I thought were particularly wonderful.
I have a thing lately for naked lamps... love what this retro booth did with the tags!
These posters were from a salesman's catalog. They had spaces for fabric swatches on the back. I may go back and get these for Mr. Hughes' office/library.

This isn't my style, but I love the orange, retro thing this booth has going on.
This booth was great! I wanted to take this home even though I have no place for it.

Now, are you ready to see what I brought home with me?
I bought this vintage cart.... AFTER we went to the flea market. How crazy is that? We were talking about buying a new one there, but luckily, Baby Hughes wanted out of his stroller and graciously let us use it to haul our stuff! I think I am either going to put my oval German license plate on it or make a vintage junky sign.

And, this vintage fireplace insert. I saw one a few months back that was a little larger and looked like zinc and was much more than I would pay. So, I was thrilled when I found this one at the flea market. I will probably put 3 plants on it in front of our fireplace. It won't come into the house until Baby Hughes gets a little more steady on his feet. I can just see him falling and hitting his head on it.
And, all of these goodies! This is a mixture from the antique store and the flea market. That number 7 milk cooler came from fellow blogger Theresa from time-worn interiors. She was so sweet to talk to and her booth was beautiful!! I wish she would come every month, Mr. Hughes is secretly glad that she doesn't! I got the wonderful shield frame and the naked lampshade... I think the dealer thought I was nuts when I asked him if I could buy just the wire frame and not the gorgeous lamp it was attached to. I found a couple of ironstone pieces... a $1 plate and a toothbrush holder. I have never even seen one before. I got the 2 grey soda crates to store canned food in when we redo our pantry. And a giant flower frog... pretty neat huh?

We finished off our Saturday by eating at Mellow Mushroom (yum!) and going to a few shops in Downtown Franklin. Only bought a small plant there that is destined to die, but it looks cute under my cloche for now. So, I hope you enjoyed my little tour of the flea market and my blatant bragging of my wonderful finds!
