I Love, Love, LOVE Blogging!!

Hey ladies (and a few gentleman!)  Hope your weekend has been nothing short of great.  The other day I received 2 awards from Reid and A Day in the Life.  Thanks so much ladies!  I will pass them along in a minute.  But first,  here is another reason I love blogging... I won a giveaway from the fabulous Peanut Petunia.  A $50 giftcard from West Elm... want to see what I picked out?

Two of these babies!  They will be perfect in my living room on my relatively new bench in the living room.  Thanks so much Susan!

Okay, so there were different rules for the awards, so I am just going to make up my own and pass them on:

There are so many more, but 7 is my favorite number so I am going to stop here.  Thank you ladies for my awards.

And, another reason I love blogging... my one year bloggiversary is coming up this week!  I am pretty thrilled that I stuck with this for a whole year, and I am no where near tired of blogging.  I had a blog that I started that got neglected when I got pregnant.  It was also called Vintage Junky, just on a different host.

Soooo, this week, I will be doing my own giveaway.  It is something I really think you will like.  So make sure you stop by later this week to enter.  Bye for now!

Happy 101

Coco gave me an award the other day.  Go visit her... you won't be sorry!  The girl is wacky!  And, as I lay around the house, I think I have narrowed it down to the top 10 things that make me happy.  Of course, I don't talk alot about it on my blog, but my faith definitely makes me happy.  And, it feeds the other things that make me happy.  I can't know happiness without it.

  1. My family... especially the Mr. and Baby Hughes variety.  They are truly my heart and soul and I adore them.
  2. Houses and furniture and design. And all the shopping that goes along with it.  When I see a well designed space, my heart beats a little faster.  We seriously went trick or treating in an area where I wanted to peek at the houses.  Besides my family, design related stuff takes up most of the area of my brain.
  3. Oranges.  I love them.  Tangerines and tangelos are lumped in with them too.  I thank God every time I eat one.  Sadly, they don't always taste good.  But, when they do... mmmm!!
  4. Blogging.  I love finding new blogs and meeting new people who share this love.  My family and friends don't blog so they just don't get it... they are supportive, but it is nice to relate to so many of you who really get why I can't get ironstone and mercury glass off my brain.
  5. Margaritas.  Good ones... but after a few, bad ones taste pretty good too.  And, sangria.
  6. Warm weather.  Right now it is 20 degrees in Tennessee... too cold for me.  I also love the beach.
  7. Twilight.  Seriously, I love it.  Adore it.  Can't read another book.  I really thought I loved the Harry Potter series, but I had never met Edward.  And, of course, now I have a major crush on Robert Pattinson.  It is okay though... Mr. Hughes loves Zooey Deschanel and Giada De Laurentiis.
  8. Will Ferrell. I love a man that can make me laugh that hard.
  9. Spa treatments, especially pedis with my sister... the ultimate girl time.
  10. Traveling and going to new places.  Even if it is just a short drive.  I love seeing a new place with all the buildings and history and houses.

Well there you go.... just a few of the things that make this girl happy.  And, now here is who I want to pass this on to....

  • Anne from Fiona and Twig
  • Gina from Shabby Chic Cottage
  • Rachel from A Little Bit Vintage
  • Kristen from Domestic Ease
  • Susan from Peanut Petunia
Just a few of the great people I have met through this wonderful bloggy world!

Lovin' Life', Lovin' You

Does anyone love Elizabethtown as much as we do? (me and Mr. Hughes that is!)  Especially Chuck and Cindy... aren't they great?  Seriously, go watch the movie if you haven't already.  That is where "lovin' life, lovin' you" came from.  So, I have been feeling a little guilty for not participating in the last award I received.  I told the truth... it is hard just picking a few and I feel guilty if I leave someone I truly enjoy reading out.  But, isn't the idea just to show some love, both for the person giving and the people receiving?  I then I remember how I feel when someone gives me one... special  So, in the spirit of that feeling (and Chuck and Cindy,) I am going to participate.

The rules are as follows:

1. Thank the person who nominated you for this award.

2. Copy the logo and place it on your blog.

3. Link to the person who nominated you for this award.

4. Name 7 things about yourself that people may not know.

5. Nominate 7 Kreativ Bloggers.

6. Post links to the 7 blogs you nominate.

7. Leave a comment on each.

Okay, so here goes:

Thank you sweet, sweet Rachel from a little bit vintage.  She is truly one of my bloggy friends!  Her little girl's room is so darling and I may have to literally steal her painted trunk!

So, here are 7 things about me that you may not know:

  • I am an orthodontist's assistant for my real job. My dream job is to be a boutique owner and a stay at home mommy.  Or a marine biologist... whichever comes first.
  • I am a bit a a germaphobe... more so after having a child.  Working in a dental environment doesn't help.
  • I knew I loved my husband within 2 weeks of knowing him.  And, I know the feeling was mutual.  We are very well matched and to this day I have never made a better choice than giving him my number in a bar and then biting the bullet and sending him a text message first.
  • I know that there is nothing I will ever do that is more important than being a mother.  I just hope I don't screw him up too badly!
  • I can't get my shower clean!  Really, it can't be done!  Curses on the walk in shower glass door combo with the non-slip stuff that constantly looks dirty.
  • I am really good at making choices, however, I never like to choose food or movies.  And, when I do choose, Mr. Hughes will ineveitably say," Oh, that is a chick place to eat" or "That is a girl movie."  Do you see my reluctance?
  • I am a terrible singer.  Awful. But, I do it anyway. I think me singing "Oh Holy Night" may have been what made our dog go deaf.

and here are the blogs that have intrigued me, entertained me or inspired me recently:

My Little Happy Place partly for her fabulous chairs that she recently got back from the reupholsterer and partly because of her post today.

Little Byrd Vintage has beautiful photos and lots of lovelies in her etsy shop, both vintage and handmade.

Coco's Cuckoo World for her entertainment value and because my beloved doggie's name was Kokoa.  Check out this post... I am still laughing!

Funky Junk Interiors because her blog is great and because she helped me with html code in this post.

Lulu & Co because I know she has to be as sweet as appears.  And, because she is chasing her dream!

French Larkspur have you seen her beautiful blog?  And, her shop?  You need to!!

The Brocantess her blog is fairly new, but her photos knock my socks off!

and because I am a rule breaker... here are a few more!

Fiona and Twig another girl chasing the dream.

Three Men and a Lady for making grey and yellow look so good.

Vintage Modern Girl is a fellow etsier and I like her style!

Flower Patch Farmgirl... this girl is fun!

Chester and Donkey check out why her blog is named so.

So there it is...my 7+ blogs that I love today.  That doesn't mean I don't love Peanut Petunia any less or any of the others that I didn't mention...just go show these ladies so love!

Who me?

Sweet Linda at Little Bits gave Vintage Junky a Lovely Blog Award!  Thanks so much Linda!  And this requires me to nominate 15 blogs to receive this award.... this is the hardest part because I always feel like I am leaving someone out... my reading list is very, very long and I have way more than 15 favorite blogs at this point, so I hope you don't mind if I just extend this to all those who read Vintage Junky!

I hope you will stop by later... I am going to post some photos for the Flea Market Party!

Thanks Jana!

The lovely Jana at Twig gave me the Honest Scrap award.  Thanks so much!  I want everyone to go visit her blog... she is adorable!

As I have recently done a 10 things post, I won't bore you with more about me... just go visit Jana.  You will love her, I promise!

Sweet blog friends

Sweet Rachel over at a little bit vintage probably thinks I overlooked her award that she so kindly gave me last week. Well, I didn't. I just procrastinated while I had family visiting this weekend. Nana came and watched Baby Hughes while Mr. Hughes and I went out on a much needed date. Anyhow, here is who I want to spread the love to: 6 friends who I enjoy reading their blogs and comments. I enjoy reading so many, but these 6 are the ones who came to the front of my mind today.
Peanut Petunia
Vermont Cottage
The Shabby Chic Cottage
Domestic Ease
Flower Patch Farmgirl
Humble Pie

And, just because I like odd numbers and the #7, I am going to bend the rules and add:
My Shoestring Life

Thanks for being my friend and keeping me entertained and inspired. Hope your weather is as beautiful as ours. Oh, and stop back by here later and (this is exciting!) register for my first ever giveaway! I have to go home to take the photo first!

I am blushing...

The other day I received my very 1st blog award from Susan at Peanut Petunia.
Thanks so much, Susan! I was so excited! I still am! I think I screamed the news to Mr. Hughes. I think Mr. Hughes thinks I am a little silly with the whole blogging business, but it keeps me out of trouble(sometimes!) I actually would have blogged earlier and passed on the love if our stupid wireless connection wasn't giving us grief last night! I hate it when technology doesn't work the way it is supposed to.

Well, here our the 5 ladies I would like to share the love with. Go visit their blogs, they are all so talented and entertaining! Oh, and don't forget to visit Susan too!
Rachel at alittlebitvintage She has been so supportive as I have started this blog.
Tara at blondiensc Great taste and a funny, funny lady!
Kristen at domesticease Great supporter of all us bloggers and her blogazine is so informative.
Marie at emmacallsmemama Loves black and white like me. Check out her schoolroom!
Beth at oldtymemarketplace
I believe we may be junky sisters. She has great finds!
There are many others too and I may sound mushy, but I really thank all of you readers out there. Every time I see that I have a new follower, I feel even more creative!

On another note, we have been busy outside the house working on the deck and landscaping. And, more importantly, we moved Mr. Hughes' office into our library. Have I mentioned that Mr. Hughes works out of our home and watches the adorable Baby Hughes while I am at work? Well, now they have much more room and it gives us a chance to create..... OUR CRAFT ROOM!!! YES! I am excited! But, I want to think of another name than "craft room." It makes me think of cinnamon brooms in the middle of the mall. So, do any of you ladies have any ideas?
Well, hope to show you some progress soon.
